Apostolic Faith Church - DC (AFCDC)

We are the Apostolic Faith Church in the nation's capital of Washington, DC. The Apostolic Faith Church is a worldwide religious organization, with international headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Our roots stem from the 1906 revival on Azusa Street in Los Angeles.

We have found a deeply satisfying life in Jesus Christ and we want to share it with all we come in contact with. The Apostolic Faith Church is a worldwide religious organization, with international headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Our roots stem from the 1906 revival on Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California. On Christmas Day of that year, the founder of the International Missions of the Apostolic Faith, Florence L. Crawford, came to Portland and we mark that as the official beginning of our work. The beginning of our work in Washington DC was founded by late Mary G. Kelley. Read our full history here.

About Us

The Founder of the Apostolic Faith Church in Washington, DC was the late Reverend Mary G. Kelley. She was born in North Carolina on January 22, 1901. Her life was filled with activities of spiritual meaning. She later in life relocated to the District of Columbia and, there the Lord manifested his will for such a beautiful woman of God. Read her testimony here. When "Mother Kelley" passed years later, she was succeeded by John McElveen, affectionally known as "Brother Mac." Read his testimony here.

Our Vision

We envision for all to come to know Jesus Christ through His Words.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We continually strive to develop fully committed disciples of Jesus Christ through our preaching, teaching, multiple corporate prayer opportunities and encouraged private prayer. We emphasize the original Pentecostal doctrines of salvation, sanctification, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Our Activities

We have weekly worship/evangelical service, mulitple prayer meetings (including conference calls), Bible Study, and Sunday School. We offer participatory Sunday School classes for all ages, with children enjoying various activities designed just for them. Vacation Bible School is held once every year during summer months.
